How is Joe Publisher reacting to all the TV coverage on the abuse cases?

please pardon if this a repeated topic.

i have had virtually no contact with any witnesses beside my mother for the past few years.

she watches tv constantly and claims she has never seen anything on the watchtower abuse cases.

You know I have to say that saying child molestation is "rampant" in JW-land is going a bit overboard and makes one look hateful and bias instead of well-meaning and thoughtful.

I have several friends who were brought up Catholic and what happened in the Catholic Church I would call rampant. My friend was raped by a Catholic priest for 10 years. This same priest is known to have raped around 300 to 400 other boys in a three state area over thirty-five years. That is rampant. The rate of abuse in society in general is what? Around 30%. What is it in JW-land?

looks like a victory for satan demoting jehovah's organization to the shit can file of ancient history.. for a hundred years it looked like jehovah's organization was going to keep going strong then jehovah caused so many wrong dates for when the end of the world was coming and now with the invention of the internet where these big problems with jehovah can be aired in public seems to cast a spell of doom over jehovah causing him to hate to see tight pants on men and women and child like wizard toys and deaf people mastering the art of baiting ..

It’s grandiose thinking to believe that Martin Luther couldn’t bring down the Catholic Church, but the Internet is going to bring down any religion, whether it be Mormons, JW’s, Scientology, the Catholic Church, etc.

I hear this all the time, but wishing something was true isn’t going to make it happen, and having confidence in something is going to happen when it goes against all the empirical evidence of past history borders on hubris.

Let history play out before you start writing the history books.

JW's do this in prisons as well and they've been doing it in hospitals for a long time. I'd rather be told I could live on a paradise earth than burn in hell. Although, depending on which day it is or who you're sharing a hospital room with that might not be the case.

Funny thing is: I've heard many a story of non-Witnesses who don't want blood transfusions say they are witnesses to their doctors so they will use other methods. And if a witness goes and talks to that person, because the docs say they are a witness too, lo-and-behold they are not. Very strange.

Have you noticed that the Mormon and JW websites try to appeal as looking "normal" and "mainstream"

they both look colorful and try to paint themselves as "normal everyday people" and they don't fully explain all there beliefs for obvious reasons.

JW.org Email Service - Now I've Seen EVERYTHING!!!

maybe i'm late but i just discovered that elders now have an email service run on the jw.org domain name.. those emails might contain a treasure trove of very sensitive material regarding rape, molestation, pedophilia cases etc.. the cult keeps getting creepier and creepier.

why would they do that in this day and age, lots of damning stuff in one place?.

It's simply coming up into the technology of the 21st Century. This simply replaces letters mailed out. It's saving a lot of trees, which I'm all for!!! And there is no "secret" treasure trove of info there. It's elder correspondence which they've always done through the U.S. postal service before this.

why report more partakers?

of all the threads here about the number of partakers increasing, i don't recall theories as to why they report this.

they could stop reporting numbers altogether or lie.

instead they say, in essence, "our teachings about end times and heavenly hope are still wrong"..

I do remember when the dwindling number of partakers was supposed to be a sign that the end was near.

I would have to go back and look and see where are the lands where the biggest increases in anointed have come from? Is it across the board, or it is in land's where people are not that educated?

Current U.S Federal Judge is a Jehovah Witness... How does this guy not get forced to quit his job and not get in trouble?

I don't think the brothers at Bethel know who everyone individual is and I highly doubt "they let him continue" as a judge, because one day he might become useful to them. They've probably never heard of him. Also, if he isn't a servant then you're not held under the microscope the same way.

Again, this thread and others get carried away by emotion rather than logic. He's a judge and a witness. Technically, this isn't an issue in witness-land. Anyone know him personally? If not how can we impune his integrity?

don't tell the elders, buuuuut, i sorta kinda maybe never contributed money....ever..... i always thought - hey, i give a lot of my time and energy to the org, so that's how i contribute.

i was also pretty stinkin poor for most of my life and didn't really have the money to give.. anyone else like me?.

I always gave when I took literature. If there was a special need in the hall I would give for that. I also gave money privately to those who were in need or were going where the need was great. I always donated in cash.

My parents really, really gave a lot. They also gave loans to those in need, gave money to those who were poor, gave several of their cars they were going to trade in to those who had little money, cooked thousands of meals for brothers and sisters through the years, and donated probably way more than they should have because they are so big-hearted.
